Facility Support
Dade Moeller & Associates provides a variety of services to support facility functions and operations, as summarized below.
Radiation Surveillance & Monitoring
Dade Moeller & Associates can develop facility-specific radiation safety programs; conduct radiation safety surveys of areas in which radioactive materials and radiation sources are used and stored; resurvey areas to ensure correction of problems; collect, prepare and analyze swipe samples taken to check for removable radioactive contamination; perform checks on security of radioactive materials; conduct inventories of radioactive sources; perform routine monitoring of personnel and areas; and perform final status surveys for decommissioning.
Decontamination & Decommissioning
We can design and conduct Multi-Agency Radiation Survey and Site Investigation Manual (MARSSIM) type final status surveys for facilities undergoing closure. We can provide facility and infrastructure surveys to support D&D activities and to ensure that residual radioactive contamination levels do not exceed acceptable limits. We can provide waste management and transportation expertise to support compliant characterization, packaging, transport and disposal to meet DOT and burial facility requirements. Dade Moeller & Associates has the expertise to perform remedial/feasibility studies; site characterization and remediation; sampling and analysis plans; health & safety plans; industrial hygiene; QA & QC; waste management; health, safety & quality oversight; environmental sampling; waste designation; transportation; and disposal.
Emergency Response
Dade Moeller & Associates has been instrumental in helping clients establish emergency response plans for spills of hazardous chemicals and radioactive liquids, lost radioactive materials, radioactive materials discovered in public areas, improper disposal of radioactive materials, and incidents involving contamination of workers. Our staff of environmental specialists, industrial hygienists, and health physicists has assisted in surveys of contaminated personnel, facilities, and equipment to ensure proper action to remediate the incident. We provide normal work-hour and after-hours emergency response services.
Dosimetry
Dade Moeller & Associates has a history of success and a high degree of customer satisfaction in designing radiation dosimetry programs, workplace monitoring, site characterization and surveillance programs, and final release surveys. In addition, we can supply film, thermoluminescent dosimeters (TLD), or colorimetric dosimeters for routine or emergency monitoring. We are an authorized distributor of dosimeters from Mirion Technologies Dosimetry Services Division.
Computer Model Development & Application
Our staff members have created and applied complex models to radiological dose and risk estimates. Computer model development and application is a fundamental feature of nuclear safety and radiological risk assessments, and we have applied models to evaluate doses and risks for many situations, including facility siting and design, licensing, recycling, dose reconstruction, and environmental impact.
