Radiological
safety, the technical focus of Health Physics,
is the practice of protecting mankind and
the environment from the potentially harmful
effects of ionizing radiation. Although
radioactivity and ionizing radiation have
always been present from natural sources,
radiation safety efforts have only evolved
over the past century following the scientific
discoveries of radiation and radioactive
materials. The primary tenet of radiation
safety is to protect against unnecessary
or excessive radiation exposures, while
taking advantage of the positive contributions
radiation can provide to the well-being
of humans. A system of radiological protection,
developed through international collaboration
and consensus, serves as the basis for radiation
protection regulations in the United States
for occupational and environmental exposures.
Dade Moeller & Associates employees
have developed and implemented radiation
protection programs and provided radiological
support, including regulatory compliance
evaluations, for government agencies, their
contractors, and commercial businesses.
Our expert personnel have extensive capabilities
in Health Physics; Nuclear Safety; Radiation
Protection and Program Support; Dosimetry,
Surveillance, and Monitoring; and Computer
Model Development and Application. In addition,
notable staff members are active in national
and international radiological protection
activities, and are recognized as among
the top practitioners in their field. |
