Public Outreach

There are many individuals who are seeking reliable information on radiation safety. Dade Moeller has mobilized its staff of expert Certified Health Physicists [radiation protection scientists] and Certified Safety Professionals to address these needs.

Radiological Information Training modules have been extracted from Dade Moeller’s Radiation Safety Academy training courses, and are provided for your use during this time of concern. They are designed for the radiation novice to help you understand the basics of radiation. You can take these training modules as many times as you would like, and stop and start at any time.

Radiation Terminology There are two systems of units used to quantify radioactivity and radiation dose. Reports on potential radiation doses in the United States are typically expressed in units of rem, while reports from Japan or other countries are typically expressed in units of sievert (Sv). There are occasionally reports where both units are used. Radiation Terminology has been provided for your use.

These courses use the dose unit of rem. See
