Laboratory Services - Analytical & Calibration

Dade Moeller has established itself as one of the foremost national and international experts in the field of radiation safety. Our expertise was developed through work performed for a wide range of clients including the U.S. Department of Energy, the National Institutes for Occupational Safety and Health, the commercial nuclear industry, hospitals, national laboratories, and dozens of facilities subject to regulation by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and Agreement States.

Dade Moeller is pleased to offer analytical and calibration services through its Radioanalytical and Calibration Laboratory. The Laboratory provides radioactive sample analysis and radiation detection/measurement instrument calibrations for a variety of clients, including:

  • Federal Government Agencies
  • Homeland Security Contractors
  • Hospital and Medical Facilities
  • Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Research Facilities
  • Emergency Response Agencies (Fire Departments and Law Enforcement)
  • Industrial Manufacturing Facilities

The Laboratory follows a rigorous Quality Assurance program that meets and follows the standards provided under ISO/IEC 17025:2005, ANSI N323A, our State of Tennessee Radioactive Materials License, and other appropriate state agency standards. All personnel at the Laboratory are trained on key aspects of the quality system and understand that excellence is achieved through a commitment to continuous quality assurance and process improvements.

Facility

Our Laboratory is located in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The facility is designed to provide efficiency and adequate space for receiving, preparing, and analyzing samples as well as a low background area for instrument calibrations.

Multiuse Radioanalytical and Calibration Laboratory

The Laboratory uses liquid scintillation counting (LSC) machines for radioactive sample analysis and student instruction. The machines are used for hands-on training during our LSC course and for the LSC option offered at the end of many of our radiation safety courses held in our training center, adjacent to the Laboratory. These include our 40-hour Radiation Safety Officer Course, Medical Radiation Safety Officer Course, Basic Radiation Safety, and many others. In addition, our calibration laboratory is used for hands-on training and explanation of instrument calibration techniques during many of our courses.

On-site Support

The Radioanalytical Laboratory offers on-site support services for the use of many types of liquid scintillation counters. Our staff is experienced in using a number of different types of fixed and portable liquid scintillation counters. We will work with your users to correctly setup your instrument for your site-specific needs. Furthermore, we can present our LSC course at your site and tailor it to meet your specific needs.
