Instrument Calibrations

Dade Moeller’s Calibration Laboratory has performed more than 15,000 calibrations of radiation detection instrumentinstruments. We offer exposure and contamination (efficiency) calibration services. The Laboratory possesses a wide variety of NIST traceable sources for performing calibration of contamination and exposure/dose rate monitoring instruments.

Our calibration procedures follow ANSI Standard N323A-1997, “Instrument Test and Calibration, Portable Survey Instrument.” Upon completion of each calibration, the Laboratory will issue a Certificate of Calibration for each instrument. Each certificate contains detailed information on how the instrument was calibrated, references to geometry, correction factors, source efficiencies, observed exposure rates, and details about each NIST traceable source the Laboratory used to calibrate your instrument. Corresponding instrument labels will be provided as well.

Upon arrival, instruments will be inspected for damage and proper working order. You will be immediately notified if any damage occurred during shipping.

To send instruments for calibration, please follow the instructions below:

instrument
  • Complete our editable Calibration Request Form and print.
  • Submit one (1) Calibration Request Form for each instrument in need of calibration. Be sure to include your email address on the Calibration Request Form to receive an email reminder 30 days prior to your instrument coming due for calibration.
  • Please complete our Method of Payment Form attached to the Calibration Request Form. The Laboratory accepts payment by purchase order and credit cards.
  • Package instruments appropriately for shipping. Use of bubble wrap and padding is recommended to prevent damage to the instruments delicate parts. Dade Moeller is not responsible for damage that occurs during shipment to the Laboratory.

NOTE: When shipping pressurized ion chambers, please consult the Laboratory for the correct shipping procedures. Pressurized ion chambers are considered hazardous materials/dangerous goods due to the presence of an internal pressurized gas chamber. Shipment requires personnel training and the completion of the appropriate paperwork. We offer a Web-based training course: DOT Requirements for Shipping Model 451P Pressurized Ion Chambers.

Instruments will be returned via Fed Ex. You may use your own FedEx account for the return shipment of your instruments. Please indicate your account number and zip code in the appropriate location on the Calibration Request Form.

Send appropriately packaged meters with corresponding paperwork to:
