Senior Health Physicist [radiation protection scientist] Barbara L. Hamrick has been named to the 2010 Fellow Class of the Health Physics Society. This special honor recognizes Hamrick’s significant contributions to the profession of health physics.

Vice President of Environmental Programs Mitzi Miller has received the 2010 “Assessor Choice Award” from the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA). This award recognizes Miller’s “skills and contributions as an A2LA assessor.” Miller, a technical expert in the environmental field, has performed more than 100 laboratory assessments for A2LA since becoming an assessor in 1993.

Philip L. Bartley has joined the Company as a Senior Safety and Health Professional. Bartley brings more than 30 years of environmental, construction, and industrial health and safety experience to Dade Moeller & Associates' safety and health practice. He has managed several large-scale environment, safety, and health projects, with specific experience in the defense and energy markets. He is a Certified Industrial Hygienist and a Certified Safety Professional, and is National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologist certified.

Secretary and Executive Vice President William E. Kennedy, Jr., was re-elected as a Council member of the National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements (NCRP).  This will be the second term for Mr. Kennedy, who has been a Council member since 2004. The Council consists of 100 voting members who serve 6-year terms, and are selected based on their scientific expertise. Council members serve as individuals, not representatives of any particular organization. 

Senior professional Barbara L. Hamrick has been named Secretary-Elect of the Health Physics Society, a nonprofit scientific organization whose mission is to promote the practice of radiation safety. Hamrick is a Certified Health Physicist [radiation protection scientist] who has a Doctor of Law degree from Loyola Law School at Los Angeles.

The Missouri University of Science and Technology has selected Nuclear Engineer and Senior Health Physicist [radiation protection scientist] Ali A. Simpkins to serve as a member of its Nuclear Engineering Development Board. In this role, Simpkins will provide recommendations and guidance on issues related to the well-being and growth of the University’s nuclear engineering program.

We have added several of our radiation safety training courses to our GSA Environmental Services Contract GS-10F-0199L. This contract provides our federal government clients with a fast and efficient procurement vehicle to obtain our training and environmental services.  

Dade Moeller acquires Environmental Quality Management, Inc. (EQM, Inc.), a recognized leader in environmental data management and assessment. The two companies have a long-standing professional relationship working on remediation projects in support of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Hanford Site.

The American Board of Health Physics has selected Senior Health Physicist [radiation protection scientist] Jackson R. Ellis to chair its Part One Examination Panel. The 12-member Panel prepares the annual Part One examination, an important and challenging initial qualifier for health physicists seeking certification in the field.  

Senior Health Physicists [radiation protection scientists] Donald N. Stewart and Mark R. Fishburn have been named officers of the Columbia Chapter of the Health Physics Society for the 2009–2010 year. Stewart was elected President-Elect of the Chapter. Fishburn, who was elected President-Elect last year, now assumes the role of Chapter President.

President and Chief Executive Officer Matthew P. Moeller, CHP, has been named to the 2009 Fellow Class of the Health Physics Society. This special honor recognizes Moeller’s “significant . . . contributions to the profession of health physics [radiation protection science].”

David Borders has joined the Company as Deputy Chief Operating Officer. Borders brings more than 30 years of project management, business management, and financial leadership expertise to Dade Moeller & Associates’ already distinguished staff. His experience is specific to the energy, engineering, and environmental remediation markets.

President and Chief Executive Officer Matthew P. Moeller, CHP, has been named Leader of the Year by the local Mid-Columbia Leadership Development Association, a chapter of the National Management Association. This is one of the Association’s most prestigious awards.

We relocated and expand our office in Las Vegas. The facility will serve a dual role as a training center and as a center for Dade Moeller’s consulting services in the southwestern United States.

The Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physics Education Programs (CAMPEP) has reviewed and accredited the firm’s Medical Radiation Safety Officer Course. Qualified medical physicists participating in this course will earn 40 Medical Physics Continuing Education Credits.

Ali A. Simpkins, a nuclear engineer and recognized expert in environmental assessment and nuclear safety analysis, has joined the Company as a Senior Health Physicist.  Simpkins adds more than 17 years of technical and project management qualifications to Dade Moeller & Associates’ already distinguished staff.  Experienced in high-profile projects, Simpkins was responsible for environmental contracts with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) ranging in value up to $1,000,000.

Our Medical Radiation Safety Officer Course was recently reviewed by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physics Education Programs (CAMPEP) and the course is now approved for over 40 MPCECs (Medical Physics Continuing Education Credits) for qualified medical physicists. CAMPEP, jointly sponsored by the American College of Radiology (ACR), American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) and the American College of Medical Physics (ACMP), is a nonprofit organization whose objectives are the review and accreditation of educational programs in medical physics.

We have expanded our radiation detection instrument calibration services to include calibration of instruments used for measuring radiation exposure or radiation dose rates. These services have been added to the company’s previously offered calibration of instruments used to measure radioactive surface contamination.

The JAD Environmental Team was selected by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to provide National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) support services across the DOE weapons complex. Specifically, the team will support the Department’s preparation of environmental impact statements, environmental assessments, and environmental reports in compliance with NEPA.

We have added two outstanding professionals to its already distinguished cadre of experts.

Robin E. Tiller, CPA (inactive), joins Dade Moeller & Associates as Accounting Manager. She has been working in the government accounting field for Department of Energy sites and contractors for 18 years. She comes to Dade Moeller & Associates from a large local firm, where she served in Sr. level accounting positions including payroll manager, principal auditor, and Sr. Government Accounting Specialist.

The Richland facility has received a radioactive materials license from Washington State.  This license authorizes Dade Moeller & Associates to provide commercial health physics [radiation protection] services at client facilities or temporary job locations within the state.

Darrin P. Lawrence, a recognized expert in radiological program management, has joined the Company as Manager, Oak Ridge (Tenn.) Division. Lawrence adds more than 20 years of project and business qualifications to Dade Moeller & Associates’ distinguished staff of experts.

Senior professional Edward F. Maher will represent the United States Health Physics Society as a delegate to the 12th International Congress of the International Radiation Protection Association (IRPA), which started yesterday and will run through Friday, October 24, 2008, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Dade Moeller & Associates, Inc. announced that Sean M. Austin has been named Vice President for Business Development. Specifically, Austin will lead the Commercial & Institutional Business Development Sector.

Dade Moeller & Associates, Inc is a member of the winning contract team – Mission Support Alliance, LLC – selected by the U.S. Department of Energy to support environmental cleanup operations at the Hanford Site near Richland. Specifically, Dade Moeller & Associates will be the lead small business provider of radiological health and safety services on the Mission Support Alliance Team. In this role, Dade Moeller & Associates will support several key areas, including worker safety and health, nuclear safety, and radiation control.

Employee Deborah L. Martin, CRM [Certified Records Manager], has been elected to the office of Secretary of the Columbia Basin Chapter of the Association of Records Managers and Administrators (ARMA). Martin also was selected to serve as Marketing Director of ARMA’s Great Northwest Region, which serves Alaska, Oregon, Idaho, and Washington.

Dade Moeller & Associates, Inc., today announced that employee Judson L. Kenoyer, CHP, CIH, has been elected to the position of President-Elect of the Baltimore-Washington Chapter of the Health Physics Society. Kenoyer is a member of the company's Fairfax, Va., office, located near Washington, DC.

Dade Moeller & Associates, Inc., today announced that employee and 14-year Tri-Cities area resident Stephen L. Bump, CHP, CIH, has been elected to the Executive Board of the Decommissioning Section of the Health Physics Society. Bump is Manager of Western Operations for Dade Moeller & Associates and has more than 31 years of nuclear facility experience, with more than 18 years as a manager and supervisor.

Taylor Lecture at the 2008 Annual Meeting of the National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements (NCRP) on April 14, 2008, in Bethesda, Md.

Chairman of the Board and President Emeritus, Dade W. Moeller, Ph.D., CHP, PE, has been named the 2006 recipient of the Professor Emeritus Award of Merit from the Harvard School of Public Health. The award recognizes Moeller’s “lifelong achievement in the field of environmental health and radiation safety.”
