Mitzi Miller Earns National Recognition July 06, 2010

Vice President of Environmental Programs Mitzi Miller has received the 2010 “Assessor Choice Award” from the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA). This award recognizes Miller’s “skills and contributions as an A2LA assessor.” Miller, a technical expert in the environmental field, has performed more than 100 laboratory assessments for A2LA since becoming an assessor in 1993.

He has managed several large-scale environment, safety, and health projects, with specific experience in the defense and energy markets. Bill Kennedy Re-Elected to National Radiation Protection Council March 22, 2010

Secretary and Executive Vice President William E. Kennedy, Jr., was re-elected as a Council member of the National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements (NCRP).  This will be the second term for Mr. Kennedy, who has been a Council member since 2004. The Council consists of 100 voting members who serve 6-year terms, and are selected based on their scientific expertise. Council members serve as individuals, not representatives of any particular organization.  Secretary and Executive Vice President William E. Hamrick is a Certified Health Physicist [radiation protection scientist] who has a Doctor of Law degree from Loyola Law School at Los Angeles. Senior professional Barbara L. Hamrick has been named Secretary-Elect of the Health Physics Society, a nonprofit scientific organization whose mission is to promote the practice of radiation safety. Ali Simpkins Named to Nuclear Engineering Board January 21, 2010

The Missouri University of Science and Technology has selected Nuclear Engineer and Senior Health Physicist [radiation protection scientist] Ali A. Simpkins to serve as a member of its Nuclear Engineering Development Board. In this role, Simpkins will provide recommendations and guidance on issues related to the well-being and growth of the University’s nuclear engineering program.
